Once upon a time, in a land called Catonsville, there were a couple of nuts named John and Yvette. Yvette desperately wanted a vintage trailer to renovate and take the Grankids camping. (Yvette had never owned a trailer before and had no idea what she was getting into! ) John, who had previously owned two RV's, knew it wasn't one of their best ideas, capitulated. You see, John loved Yvette very much and would do just about anything to keep her from whining! Enter Ramble...He's a1990 Wilderness Yukon travel trailer. He's 19 ft long from bumper to hitch. And he is very used!
Getting Ramble home from the land called North East, MD was an adventure within itself. John, being a virtual boyscout, was prepared for the fact that Ramble's electric wiring was outdated. He'd brought tools, electrical tape and an adaptor to power the running lights. Thinking that all he had to do was match the colors of the wires, John began splicing and taping. The problem: Ramble had 6 wires of different colors, the adaptor had 4. 2 hours later, with just the right brake light powered, we set about trying to tow Ramble home. Less than 100yds into the trek, when John attempts to brake, Herbie begins to jerk like a very old roller coaster going uphill. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. By executive decision, we decide to risk the ticket (for not having running lights) and disconnected the !#£&ing thing! The rest of the ride was tense but uneventful. Once home, we found the operation manuals and John was able to rewire them so that all lights with light bulbs are working! Still not sure why green doesn't hook to green?
On to the next adventure...
